  I Fell Over

I can't believe I fell over today. Fortunately, William was already in the car, so I didn't fall while holding him.

But when I went to step on the fold bar of his stroller so I could put it in the trunk, I lost my balance and fell over. I wasn't even on a slope or anything. Or uneven ground, it was in a parking lot. Nor did I catch myself (because one foot was up on the stroller bar and I couldn't get it down before I fell).

Since I didn't fall while moving or anything, I didn't hurt myself, or even tear my clothes. I think I scraped one knuckle, but I can't find the spot now so it obviously wasn't bad. And I'm glad no one saw me! I felt awfully dumb. I can't remember the last time I fell over for no reason (the last time I fell at all was from a ladder while painting, but it was in the bathroom so I didn't even hit the floor because the room was so small, I just landed against the wall and put my feet down and stood up). Heck, I can't even remember the last time I fell over from drinking! It's probably been YEARS!

I am a little curious about why I fell today. I wasn't "feeling" particularly wobbly or anything. I was just folding up the stroller one moment, and the next I was horizontal on the pavement. My foot didn't slip, I just toppled over. Very unusual. I wonder if my balance is going because I'm getting old? Isn't that what happens to old people? I always assumed that old ladies fell down because their muscles or joints gave out and they fell. But maybe it's just because their sense of balance disappears, that's why there is no warning. Just one minute they're up, the next they're down. Hmmm. I'm just going to presume this was some freak one-off thing for now, but if it happens again I might check with my doctor to see if it's a symptom of something.
