William Looks So Different With Hair!

I just watched the video I took of William when he was 11 weeks old, and I'm shocked that I don't really remember then. All I have in my head is how William looks NOW.

Several times this year, when I've set up playdates or otherwise gotten together with parents of slightly older kids, I've gotten the same response. They say they tried to remember what their own kids were into when they were William's age, but no one could do it. They only know what their kids are into right now.

I can't say that I understand why that is, but I get it. My guess is that all baby activities are just stored in short-term memory since they change so fast you don't really need to remember their favorite games, etc for very long before they're on to something else. Maybe if you had 14 kids or something you'd use the same knowledge enough to commit it to long-term memory, but for most people with 1 or 2 kids, it just doesn't happen.

I can't believe how little hair William had in that old video. He's got such a beautiful head of hair now. When I go to the LLL meetings and see the bald little girls around his age, I feel bad for them. I still try to trim his hair while he's sleeping, but sometimes I'll get a snip or two in when he's playing quietly. I've abandoned the idea of giving him a traditional haircut (where all the hair that is too long is cut off at one sitting). I now am giving him more literal hair cuts. A snip here, a snip there, eventually he'll be neatened up. I've got the hair over his ears under control, now I'm working on the hair on the sides of his neck. I can usually get about two snips before he bats my hand away and starts shaking his head.
