Things I Will Or Won't Miss

Just surfing the web a little about post-due pregnancies (although I'm not post-due myself until next Wednesday or Thursday), and I found a list of 101 Things to Do When You're Overdue (Or Close).

I've done a lot of them already! But I haven't made a list of everything I'll miss about being pregnant, and I think that might be fun. So here goes:

  • Having the baby all to myself without having to share him with the rest of the world.
  • Wearing sweater-dresses without a girdle to control my stomach.
  • Having a societally-sanctioned excuse to cut way, way back on work and activities (for the last month, at least).
  • The kindness of strangers.
  • Pregnant-lady parking at the grocery and toy store.
  • Increased metabolism.
  • Hormone-induced ecstatic joyfulness (mostly first trimester).

And a list of things I won't miss about being pregnant:

  • Hemorrhoids.
  • Heartburn.
  • Insomnia.
  • Fatigue.
  • Inability to bend over.
  • 50" waistline.
  • Water-retention and swelling of extremities.
  • Backaches.
  • Worrying about the baby's prenatal development and birth.
  • Drastic alcohol avoidance and/or rationing.
  • Ridiculous figure and lack of physical grace.
