Insomnia & Thank You Notes

I don't know why I haven't been sleeping well lately. I guess it's been maybe a week that I've been waking up around 4:30am. Some days I've been able to fall back asleep, others I give up and get up for a while before I'm tired enough to sleep again.

This is one of those nights. But I've taken the opportunity to write thank-you notes to my NYC girlfriends for the nice shower gifts they gave me. So at least the untimely awake-ness has been productive.

I'm not sure if eating anything will help-- I can't even have a glass of warm milk since I finished the milk last night (I'm considering starting to buy milk by the gallon instead of by the half-gallon, since Terry and I are now going through a gallon a week instead of per month like before). I'm not waking up because I'm hungry, and I'm breathing ok, so I don't know what it is. Maybe I really am hungry, but I just don't have an appetite. Well, maybe I'm a little hungry. I'll go eat some cheese. I've only been up 30 minutes, but I'm starting to get tired again (thank goodness), this has been the pattern all week. Sometimes it takes an hour. Nevertheless, I'll still get another couple hours of sleep before I have to wake up again. I set my alarm for two different times-- one quite early so I can go to the 8am mass before my first appointment, but if I'm too tired I'll let that one go and wait for the second alarm which will just get me to my appointment on time, and I'll go to the noon mass after my errands. The 8am would probably be more convenient, so hopefully I'll fall back asleep soon and will be rested enough to get up in 1.5 hrs. . .
