No Trip To The Park

Some friends of mine were all taking their kids to play in McGuffey Park at 9:30am this morning, and I thought it would be a nice day to take William for his first park-play-date.

We were up around 8am, so we had an hour to get ready. I had even enticed Terry to get out of bed when I suggested we could have pastries for breakfast if we went downtown (and I would have them without him if he stayed home). William would be ready to eat at 9am if he went 2.5 hours from his last feed, and 9:30am if he went three. I was hoping for three, so I could feed him at the park and he'd have his activity time there.

We got ourselves dressed, the diaper bag together, and were just about out the door when W let out a hunger wail. When this happens, there is no arguing with him, I have to stop what I'm doing and feed him. If only we'd gotten him in the car 10 minutes earlier, he probably would have slept through.

While I was feeding him, we noticed that Merlin and Rambo had busted out the screen in the parlor window and had escaped the house. Terry went to chase them back in, however all he did was get frustrated and started yelling at the cats which scared them so of course they didn't want to come back in. I am usually the one to corral the cats when they get out, but I couldn't do it and breastfeed at the same time. Well, MAYBE I could've, but it would have been more difficult than I wanted to attempt before I had a cup of coffee.

When W was done eating it was 9:48am. If we had left then, I wouldn't have gotten to the park until nearly 10:30am, and I suspect my girlfriends would have been ready to leave by then (if not already gone) since their kids are all under 14 mos. I was disappointed, since I had been looking forward to going since I woke up. I was brightened by the thought that they would be at a different park on Friday, but since we didn't make a whole lot of progress getting ready for our celebration this weekend today, I don't think I'll be able to go then either.
